Stefan B. Herpel is a partner at Dudley, Topper and Feuerzeig, LLP and is a member of the firm’s litigation section, with vast experience in a wide range of civil and corporate litigation matters. In his almost thirty years of practice, Mr. Herpel has been involved in some of the most significant and complex litigation matters in the country, including matters that resulted in argument before the U.S. Supreme Court (Bennis v. Michigan).
Mr. Herpel began his career with the Detroit, Michigan firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone. As a partner at Miller, Canfield, Mr. Herpel specialized in commercial litigation and First Amendment law for several media clients. In the early 1990s, Mr. Herpel left Miller, Canfield to form his own law firm in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he practiced until relocating to the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2006.
During his time with the firm, Mr. Herpel has become regarded as one of the top litigators in the Territory and handles complex litigation matters for some of the firm’s largest clients.
Mr. Herpel is licensed in Michigan, California and the Virgin Islands. He has practiced in the Third and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and before the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Herpel is experienced in all areas of civil litigation, including trials and appeals.
While at Michigan Law School, Mr. Herpel served as a senior editor of the Michigan Law Review. He has published articles in the Michigan Law Review, both as a student and a practitioner.
